Last weekend we went through 5 Chelsea galleries, here are the highlights from Riad’s February Art Tour.
Our first stop was the Aperture Foundation to view “Prison Nation” an exhibit that provides a rarely seen look into the United States prison system and those it effects. It features the work of artists Lucas Foglia, Bruce Jackson, Emily Kinni, Jesse Krimes, Jack Lueders-Booth, Deborah Luster, Chandra McCormick and Keith Calhoun, Zora Murff, Nigel Poor, Joseph Rodriguez, Jamel Shabazz, Sable Elyse Smith, and Stephen Tourlentes.
Our second stop was Paul Kasmin Gallery to see Tina Barney’s new work, Landscapes.
Our third stop was Yossi Milo Gallery to view Facades- Grand Tour by Markus Brunetti. The exhibit showcased Brunetti’s meticulous documentation of historic churches, cathedrals, and cloisters throughout Europe.
Our fourth stop was Jack Shainman Gallery to see I am You Part 2 by Gordon Parks, a multidisciplinary artist whose work advocated social justice.
Our final stop was Matthew Marks Gallery to see Thomas Demand’s new specially designed exhibit featuring seven photographs and two films.
